Watoto Project - raising future leaders
The mission of Watoto is to raise the next generation of Ugandan leaders by placing parentless children in families where the necessary love, care, spiritual discipleship and physical needs are provided.
Their goal is to equip these precious children with the essential moral values and life skills that will enable them to make a significant and lasting impact.
Look in the eyes of a Watoto child and you will see hope. You will see a soul transformed by God's faithfulness and provision. You will see a life rescued from a bleak future, changed in virtually every way possible. Look at a Watoto child and see a leader, equipped to make a lasting impact in their community and on Uganda.
Watoto accepts children between the ages of 2 and 12. Once in Watoto, the children remain a part of their new family for life. Siblings are typically kept together and new ones added as they're placed in homes of eight with a new mother. They have chores, attend school, do homework, play hard, and have daily family Bible study.
This is an exciting time for Watoto as some of the first Watoto children have now graduated high school and are attending universities. Already, we are seeing the promise of a changed country start to take shape. And the miracle is that these young adults once knew only despair and hopelessness. Now thanks to Watoto, they are educated, confident, loved and purposedĀ - living testimonies for God!
